GIRL POWER: THE BEAUTY OF HAUGHTY COSMETICS
    By Shahada Karim, Agenda

It’s always a treat to discover a company that makes great products. It’s an even bigger treat to find a company that also raises social awareness and empowers women. You’ll find such a rare combination in Haughty Cosmetics. The company produces a collection of lip glosses that are fast approaching cult status, while emphasizing the beauty of confidence and control.

If that’s not impressive enough, half of all proceeds from company products are donated to help to raise awareness about Domestic Violence.

Owner Michele Coyle Edwards was kind enough to indulge my curiosity about the brand, and explain her mission to do more than just sell lip gloss.

    March 9, 2011

On Thursday, HAUGHTY Cosmetics, a DC born, bred and raised make-up venture will launch with a party @ The Hudson which will perfectly define their philosophy: a fun, upscale brand that donates a portion of their profits to Domestic Violence charities (the launch event will see 100% of the proceeds go to Becky's Fund).

After we heard about it, test drove one of their lipglosses (which, as someone who is very particular about the consistency and malleability of things hitting my lips, I can atest is a silky delight to put on your mouth) we decided to swing by their Alexandria office, meet the team behind it and see how this whole operation came about.

D.C. MAKEUP LINE LAUNCHES FOR CHARITY
    By Chloe Thompson, Washington Flyer
    March 7, 2011

It’s true: You can have brains and beauty.

I chatted with Michelle Coyle—both genius and gorgeous—who officially launches her D.C. line of makeup at a très chic party on Thursday. Not only is the lip-gloss amazing (I wear “Keep It Professional”), but 50 percent of the proceeds from Haughty Cosmetics go toward ending domestic violence.

    Intrigued? So was I.

Coyle, 29, brings experience working with nonprofits and a strong business background to the fun and sassy makeup line, which hawks 10 shades of lip-gloss for sale. Coyle assures me that fans of the all-natural line will see more by the end of the year, including eye shadows, mascara and a line of makeup brushes.

“We’re hoping to release one thing each quarter,” she says, adding, “We don’t release it until it’s perfect.”

    HAUGHTY COSMETICS LAUNCHES IN DC
Launch Event will Benefit Becky’s Fund

WASHINGTON DC----- Haughty Cosmetics, a new luxury makeup line founded by Michelle Coyle, will launch in the DC market with an event benefiting Becky’s Fund, a non profit organization focused on domestic violence awareness and education, on March 10th, 2011. Haughty’s mission is to empower women to feel beautiful inside and out while raising money for domestic violence prevention education.

After graduating from both business and beauty school, Coyle, 29, realized she should combine her love of cosmetics with her passion to end relationship violence. The result was Haughty, a product line that pledges 50 percent of its profits to domestic violence prevention education. “I am so proud to be launching a cosmetics line founded on one of my core beliefs: that true beauty comes from empowering others”, Coyle said.

Coyle is proud to partner with Becky Lee because they share a common life goal: preventing as many young women as possible from entering into violent and unhealthy relationships.

“Make-up has been used for eons to make a woman feel beautiful, because when a woman feels beautiful she exudes power and confidence. We are extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to partner with Haughty Cosmetics, as they step up to use their products to address domestic violence, a serious issue that touches so many,” said Becky Lee, Executive Director and Founder of Becky’s Fund.

The Haughty Cosmetics DC launch will be held on March 10, 2011 at Hudson Restaurant & Lounge from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at www.beckysfund.org. For more information or for media inquiries please contact Erika Paola Gutierrez at erika@epgPR.com
