About Me, Michelle, Founder and Makeup Freak
For as long as I can remember, I have been a makeup junkie. I obsessively love makeup - everything about it. The way it looks. The way it feels. Shopping for it, turning the packages over in my fingers, fantasizing about the new things I’ll be able to do with it. Putting it on and changing the way I look. Putting it on other people and changing the way THEY look. The gasp I get after someone hops out of my chair, looks in the mirror, and sees herself in a way she never thought she could. Makeup empowers us to embrace the many aspects of our complex selves - and that’s so cool!
On my favorite days, I’m working on new products, sitting in my little studio like some kind of mad scientist, stirring up trial batches of products over and over until I get something right. I have a badass hot pour filling machine, and am so proud of the fact that I have personally filled and capped every single lip gloss I sell. I especially love going into the makeup boutique down the street and seeing my brand, the brand that came straight out of my imagination, the products that I capped myself, sitting there on the shelf.
Of course, I could never devote my life, all my time and energy, to something shallow or meaningless. I know that true beauty comes from helping others, which is why I’m committed to donating 50% of net profits from the sale of Haughty products to domestic violence prevention education. It’s important to me that the work I do every day helps prevent young people from getting trapped in unhealthy, abusive, and violent situations. Nothing fulfills me more than hearing from survivors who tell me that they got out of a bad situation and now want to help others.
Above all, I do what I do for you. I hope you’ll benefit from my obsession! I want you to feel good wearing Haughty, whether you’re giving a big presentation or meeting the girls for dinner, knowing that you look great wearing quality makeup that was thoughtfully developed and made by hand from natural ingredients (and that yes, your gloss is still on)!
